Taurine

Taurine is an essential amino acid for cats, as cats cannot synthesize Taurine from other building block amino acids. Therefore it is essential that cats obtain Taurine in their diet on a regular basis.

Taurine is very often overlooked in homemade diets which can have harmful effects on your cat. A deficiency can result in retina degeneration as well as cardic problems. Since it is a critical component of the cat food, it is recommended supplementing Taurine even in cats who are on a homemade diet.
